September 1st is Disaster Prevention Day in Japan. This week we begin with an announcement on an earthquake preparedness manual from the Tokyo Fire Department. Many precious lives and valuable property were lost in the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11th, 2011. Many people might move first to turn off the gas and other fire sources as soon as they hear the first quake warnings or feel the first shakes, but the most important thing is to protect your life first and make sure you don’t get injured. City gas and propane tank systems are all designed to stop delivering gas automatically when they sense shaking of intensity 5 or greater. This means that there's plenty of time after the shaking stops to make sure that no fires have started. The Tokyo Fire Department has put together two documents “10 Ways to prepare for an earthquake,” in English and “10 Tips for Earthquake Safety” in English, Chinese, Korean, Thai and Pilipino. These documents are based on the lessons learned from major earthquakes that occurred in Japan, including the Great East Japan Earthquake. 日本では、9月1日は「防災の日」です。今週はまず、東京消防庁が作成した「地震マニュアル」からご案内します。2011年3月11日に起きた東日本大震災では、多くの人々の大切な命と貴重な財産が失われました。緊急地震速報を受けたり、地震の揺れを感じると、最初に火の元を確認する方が多いと思いますが、何よりも自分の命を守ること、そして怪我をしないことが大切です。現在の都市ガスやプロパンガスは震度5程度の揺れを感じると自動的にガスが止まるよう設定されているため、火の始末は揺れが収まってからでも間に合います。東京消防庁では、東日本大震災をはじめ、国内で発生した大きな地震の教訓を踏まえ、地震時に取るべき行動をわかりやすい言葉でまとめた「地震。その時10のポイント」を英語で、「地震に対する10の備え」を英語、中国語、韓国語、タイ語とフィリピン語で作成しています。こちらのマニュアルはPDFファイルとして東京消防庁のHPからダウンロードできます。アドレスは、www.tfd.metro.tokyo.jp/ です。

To liven up towards the Rugby World Cup 2019 Japan coming up in September, a public viewing event for the Rugby test match "Lipovitan D Challenge Cup 2019 - Japan vs. South Africa” will be held in Chofu and Hibiya. Various programs including a public viewing of the test matches, greeting the official mascot "Ren-G", rugby workshops and rugby powerhouse-themed food booths will be available. Please come and enjoy the food and cheer with family and friends. Public viewing for “Japan vs. South Africa” match is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 6th, at the public square in front of Chofu Station on the Keio Line. Hibiya venue is just outside Exit A10 or A14 at Hibiya Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, Chiyoda Line and Mita Subway Line. Admission is free for both venues.

ラグビーワールドカップ2019 日本大会の9月開幕を目前に控え、気運をさらに盛り上げるため、ラグビーテストマッチ「リポビタンD チャレンジカップ2019」に合わせて、「日本代表　対　南アフリカ代表戦」のパブリックビューイングを調布と日比谷の2会場で行います。会場では、テストマッチのパブリックビューイングを楽しめるほか、大会公式マスコット「レンジ―」との交流、ラグビー体験、ラグビー強豪国の名物料理を揃えた飲食コーナーなど様々な企画を用意しておりますので、ぜひ、ご来場ください！日時は、両会場共に、9月6日（金）午後5時から夜9時までを予定。キックオフは夜7時15分です。調布会場へのアクセスは、京王線「調布」駅下車、「広場口」すぐ。日比谷会場は、東京メトロ日比谷線・千代田線、都営地下鉄三田線「日比谷」の　A10もしくは A14出口よりすぐです。どちらの会場も、入場無料です。
