The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will be holding the "Disaster Preparedness Drill for Foreign Residents" as an opportunity for foreigner nationals to learn and experience disaster prevention and preparedness. On the day of the event, participants will be able to experience disasters through VR and earthquake simulation vehicles, learn about evacuation centers, take part in hands-on workshops such as firefighting and smoke experience, learn about translation apps for emergencies, make crafts that can help in the event of an earthquake or a fire, and take part in cooking drills. Volunteer interpreters will be offering instructions in foreign languages, so even if your Japanese isn’t strong, you will be able to take part. The drill is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and should conclude at 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28th, at Musashino Forest Sports Plaza. The venue is a 5 minute walk from Tobitakyu Station on the Keio Line. To participate, you must apply in advance from the official website at https://bousaikunren.com/. Applicants must be foreign nationals living, working or studying in Tokyo. The event is free of charge and is limited to the first 300 people. The deadline for signing up is Wednesday, January 15th. This winter, the Rainbow Bridge will be lit up again to celebrate the season. While Odaiba attracts people with various events such as fireworks and illuminations, the special light up of the Rainbow Bridge will add more beauty to the night view. The light up will take place from December 7th, through January 5th, next year. Meanwhile, ”Odaiba Rainbow Fireworks 2019" will also be held every Saturday in December for 5 minutes starting from 7 p.m. For the winter season, Odaiba area will feature Christmas illumination creating a fantastic atmosphere for visitors to enjoy, so don’t miss it!
