Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
12th August 2026
This week's edition is on ‘Yokohama Night Zoo’.
Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia, Nogeyama Zoo, and Kanazawa Zoo are holding ‘Yokohama Night Zoo 2026’ every Saturday and Sunday in August, as well as on the national holiday on Tuesday 11th.
The key point this year is the opening time. On the event days, all three zoos open at 1pm, and entry is not permitted in the morning. Please take note of this when planning your visit.
From the evening into the night, as the sun sets over the zoo, visitors can enjoy watching another side to the animals in an atmosphere different to that of the daytime.
Zoorasia is holding events such as craft workshops, in addition to bird shows and guided tours of the animals by zookeepers. Numerous food trucks are set up in the zoo’s plaza, serving a range of dishes, sweets, and drinks—with a focus on Asian cuisine—that the whole family can enjoy.
At Nogeyama Zoo, visitors can enjoy special guided tours by zookeepers, as well as lantern-making and musical performances. As Nogeyama Zoo is scheduled to close for renovations from January next year, this will be the last "Night Nogeyama" event before the closure. Please take this opportunity to enjoy it.
Kanazawa Zoo is holding its popular annual projection mapping event.
As well as this, to mark "World Elephant Day," the zoo will be holding "Elephant Nights," featuring special guided tours and sales by conservation groups.
Each of the three zoos has prepared fun nighttime activities.
Why not visit the zoos at night and create lasting memories of the summer holidays?
For details, please see the websites of the respective zoos.
