Minato City distributes a handbook called “What is important at home” to parents of children aged 3 to 4 years old. It is available in English too, for foreign residents.

People whose children attend kindergartens or nursery schools in Minato City will receive them from their respective facilities.

The handbook features content about the education of 3 and 4 year olds at kindergartens and nursery schools, as well as pictures of them in such settings.  It also explains what is important to focus on in the home and how people at home can interact with the child. Columns are also featured in the handbook.

The contents convey the joy of raising children and give a sense of children’s growth and development.

The handbook is available at Regional City Offices, Children’s Halls, and Minato Public Health Center, so please take a look.

The person in charge at Minato City Hall is the Teachers’ Consultant at the Education Personnel Planning Section.

Minato City provides furniture tipping prevention devices etc free of charge, with the aim of keeping damage from falling furniture to a minimum in the event of an earthquake. Those eligible are households whose members reside in Minato City and are registered as residents. Aid is available only once per household and is provided in the form of items such as tension rod style devices, which support ceilings and furniture to prevent furniture from tipping over, and shatter prevention film for glass.

Installation of the furniture tipping prevention devices etc will also be provided for senior citizens, people with disabilities, expectant and nursing mothers and single parent families.

To apply, please fill out the application form for ‘aid in furniture tipping prevention devices etc’. It is available at the Collaboration Project Section at any Regional City Office.
