13th/16th September 2021

Monday 20th- Sunday 26th September is Be Kind to Animals Week.

It is held to enhance public understanding about the welfare of animals, which are living creatures.

Please understand the habits and nature of your pets and continue to look after them with love and responsibility throughout their lives.

Dog owners must ensure they pick up their dog mess and dispose of it at home when walking their dogs.

For urine, they should use absorbent sheets or rinse over the spot properly with water and try to keep the surroundings clean.

And, it is prohibited to walk their dogs without a leash under the Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance.

For safety, dog owners must keep their dogs on a leash while walking them.

If you are living with pets, it is necessary to make emergency plans that include your pets.

To be ready for the unexpected, prepare items for your pets, such as food and water, medicine, toilet items, etc.

In order to avoid causing a problem in an evacuation shelter, please make sure to crate train and potty train your pets in daily life.

The section in charge is the Life Hygiene Counseling Subsection of the Life Hygiene Section at Minato Public Health Center.

Tuberculosis Prevention Week runs from Friday 24th- Thursday 30th September.

Early detection of tuberculosis is extremely important.

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that causes inflammation in the lungs.

You can catch the disease by inhaling a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Symptoms are similar to those of a cold, and include a cough, phlegm, a fever, and fatigue.

If you have had a cough or have been coughing up phlegm for over 2 weeks, it is important that you seek early examination at a medical facility.

Early diagnosis and treatment are important not only for preventing symptoms from becoming severe, but also for reducing the risk of spreading the infection to your family members and others.

Even if you do not have any symptoms, you should get health check-ups on a regular basis to find out early if you have tuberculosis.

The section in charge is the Public Health and Disease Prevention Subsection of the Public Health and Disease Prevention Section at Minato Public Health Center.
