Enrollment applications for foreign children living in Minato City who wish to enroll in municipal elementary and junior high schools in April 2022, will be accepted at the School Affairs Section on the 7th Floor of Minato City Hall from Friday 1st October.
Those eligible to enroll in elementary schools are children who were born between 2nd April 2015 and 1st April 2016.
Those eligible to enroll in junior high schools are children who were born between 2nd April 2009 and 1st April 2010.
Please take identification such as a residence card that verifies the names, address and dates of birth of the child and the guardian.
The application process is handled in Japanese, so if you require interpretation, please get a Japanese speaker to accompany you.

National Health Insurance (NHI) is a mutual assistance system supported by insurance premiums paid by the members to prepare for sickness and injuries.
It is structured to help cover necessary medical costs.
If you are a registered resident of Minato City, you must enroll in NHI unless you are enrolled in the insurance program of your company, receiving public assistance, or staying in Japan for diplomacy.
An NHI card will be issued for each of those enrolled in the NHI.
A person who is aged 70 to 74 years old additionally receives a “Certificate of NHI for people aged 70 to 74 years old.”
Please show both of them when you consult a doctor.
