A "Coming of Age Day Gathering" will be held / English Support Course Teachers Sought

Minato City will hold a “Coming of Age Day Gathering” in celebration of the start of adult life for people turning 20.


Application forms for participation are being sent out to people who were born between 2nd April 2000 and 1st April 2001 and who were registered as residents of Minato City as of 20th October.

This time, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the city will be take the crowd prevention measure of providing the same content twice.

Please fill out the necessary items in the application, including which gathering you wish to attend, and return it by 13th November. Invitations will be sent out in mid December to those who apply to attend.

Please make sure you bring the invitation with you on the day.


    The event will take place on Monday 11th January 2021 (national holiday). 

Session 1 will be from noon to 1:30pm.

Session 2 will be from 3pm to 4:30pm. 

    The venue will be Ho-oh no Ma at Tokyo Prince Hotel, located at 3-3-1 Shibakoen, Minato City.

It will be a sit-down event and participants will not be permitted to enter or leave halfway through.

Teachers are being sought for English Support Courses at Minato municipal elementary schools.


The details are as follows:

Employment period: The position is for around 30 hours a week, during the period from 1st April 2021 – 31st March 2022.

Workplaces: Minato Municipal Higashimachi Elementary School or Minato Municipal Nanzan Elementary School.

Job Content: Subject and class instruction in English as an English Support Course teacher working in cooperation with the homeroom teacher, translation into English of teaching materials and school and PTA documents, and English consultation etc. for pupils and parents/guardians.


Candidates must fulfill all of the following requirements:

1)    The applicant’s native language is English or they have equivalent English skills, and have practical experience in teaching children. 

2)    They have a visa that allows them to work in Japan. 

3)    They have conversational level Japanese, can translate school documents into English and are able to communicate with staff in Japanese.


Compensation will be between ¥1,880 and ¥3,350, based on the number of years of experience as a teacher.
