In order to receive Child Allowance, an application must be submitted from 1 - 15 days after a child’s birth or date of moving into Minato City. 

This fiscal year, the city hall will be closed for six days, from Wednesday 29th December to Monday 3rd January.

If the 15th day coincides with a day the City Hall is closed due to the Year End/New Year’s holidays, you must submit your application by Tuesday 4th January, when the City Hall opens for the first time in the New Year.

Those eligible this fiscal year, are children who were born or moved into Minato City between Tuesday 14th and Sunday 19th December.

Please note that if your application is late, you will not be able to receive the allowance for the delayed period. 

If the application is submitted on or after Wednesday 5th January, child allowance payments will start in February at the earliest.

Application forms (Nintei seikyuu-sho) are available from the Health and Welfare Subsection of the Residents Support Section at any Regional City Office in Minato City or can be downloaded from the Minato City website.

Applications can also be made by post, but the application date will be recorded as the day the documents arrive at Minato City Hall, so please send them early.

Collection of waste and recyclables will be suspended between 31st December and 3rd January.

Please do not place waste or recyclables at collection points on days other than your area’s  collection days.

Minato Recycling and Waste Management Office services will end for the year at 4:25pm on Thursday 30th December, and will restart at 7:40am on Tuesday 4th January in the New Year.

Increased waste levels and traffic congestion are expected at year end/new year, so collection times may change.

Make sure you place waste and recyclables at the designated place by 8am (7:30am in some areas) to avoid missing collections.

Please do not put waste or recyclables out the evening before, or after collection has taken place.

A reservation is required for collection of large-sized household waste.

The service gets very busy towards the end of the year, so please apply early.

The year end/new year period sees the biggest waste increase in the year.

Please cooperate in putting out your waste in a timely manner so that we can welcome in the new year in a clean environment.
