This week’s edition is on the ‘World Triathlon Championship Series Yokohama 2026’.
The 'World Triathlon Championship Series Yokohama 2026’ will be held on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May at special venues around Yamashita Park.
The triathlon is a race in which participants compete on the basis of their overall strength in three events, swimming, cycling and running, in that order.
The World Triathlon Championship Series is the world's premier triathlon tournament, and serves as a pathway to the Olympics.
The competition in Yokohama is part of a series held around the world, where competitors earn points to determine the tournament’s annual champion.
In the Yokohama competition’s elite division, which will take place on the 16th, top-level athletes from all over the world will gather to compete in the thrilling races.
The World Triathlon Championship Series has been held since 2009. This year marks the 16th time that Yokohama has hosted one of the tournament’s competitions. Furthermore, the Para Series, which are being held at the same time, will be taking place in Yokohama for the ninth time, the most times in the world.
In the Age Group Category open to the general public, which will take place on 17th, approximately 1800 competitors of wide-ranging ages will compete fiercely.
The course winds its way along Yokohama’s beautiful waterfront and through the city’s main tourist areas, allowing spectators to easily enjoy the thrilling race from the roadside. At the same time, visitors can admire the roses in full bloom at Yamashita Park, making the event a true symbol of early summer in Yokohama.
"Hamatora FES", one of Japan's largest triathlon festivals, will also be held on both days at Yamashita Park, the main competition venue!
There will be an array of booths and food trucks, so everyone from children to adults will be able to enjoy the event.
