Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City

30th September 2026

This week’s edition is on ‘Yokohama Jazz Promenade 2026’.

Walking through Yokohama, you hear jazz music drifting over from somewhere… Two days like that are coming again this year.

‘Yokohama Jazz Promenade’, the annual jazz festival that brings colour to autumn in Yokohama, will be held over two days from Saturday 10th - Sunday 11th October.

The event, which launched in 1993 under the slogan ‘The whole city is a stage’, marks its 33rd year this year. A variety of live performances will take place at approximately 30 venues, including Kannai Hall and Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, as well as public spaces, commercial facilities and jazz clubs throughout the city.

The hall concerts will feature some of Japan’s leading musicians, including the Junko Onishi Special Quartet, the Tetsuo Sakurai Band, the Yucco Miller Group and the Riyoko Takagi Trio.

Furthermore, this year will see two bands from Taiwan joining the line-up for collaborative performances with musicians from Yokohama. Also worth noting is a special stage commemorating Naka Ward, which will mark the 100th anniversary of its establishment as a ward in 2027.

From hall concerts, where you can take your time enjoying full performances, to street performances, where you might stumble upon music while walking around the city, and even nighttime jazz clubs, you’ll be able to experience jazz in a way that’s unique to Yokohama.

So why not enjoy some jazz while strolling through the streets of Yokohama this autumn? We hope you’ll look forward to these two days when the streets of Yokohama will be filled with jazz!
