Japan's social insurance system includes the "health insurance" system.

This health insurance is broadly divided into "workplace health insurance," "region-based national health insurance," and the "medical care system for elderly people aged 75 and above". All residents of Japan must be covered by one of these schemes.

There are eligibility requirements for joining the "Region-based National Health Insurance", and anyone under the age of 75 who is registered as a resident of Shinagawa City can join.

However, those who fall into any of the following 1-3 categories, will not be able to join.

1) People who are able to enroll in workplace or other public health insurance.

If you work for a Japanese company, etc., you will be required to enroll in the company health insurance.

2) People receiving public assistance.

3) People whose period of stay has been determined to be less than three months, including those who have not yet obtained status of residence.

品川区からのお知らせです。

日本の社会保険に、「健康保険」の制度があります。

この健康保険は、「職場の健康保険」と「地域を単位とする国民健康保険」、「75歳以上の後期高齢者医療制度」に大別され、日本に住む人は、このいずれかに、必ず入らなければなりません。

「地域を単位とする国民健康保険」の加入については資格要件があり、品川区に住民登録をしている75歳未満の方が加入できます。

ただし、次の1～3のいずれかにあてはまる方は、加入できません。

1． 職場など、他の公的健康保険に加入できる方。

なお、日本の会社などにお勤めの方は、会社の健康保険に加入することになります。

2． 生活保護を受けている方。

3． 在留資格未取得の方も含め、3カ月以下の在留期間が決定された方　です。
