Zoos in Early Summer

Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City

8th June 2022

The zoos in Yokohama City - ’Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia’,‘Nogeyama Zoo’ and ‘Kanazawa Zoo’ - are open, with Covid-19 measures in place.

At ’Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia’ in Yokohama City’s Asahi Ward, animals such as the Red-shanked Douc Langur and the Proboscis monkey were not in the viewing areas during the winter months, so they could stay healthy.

Now, however, the weather is warmer so the animals have access to their outdoor enclosures and visitors can see they’re doing well.

‘Hideo’, the Malayan Tapir born last fiscal year, and ‘Puroi’, the Pileated Gibbon who is now a year old, are both growing fast.

Hideo can be seen in the Malayan Tapir enclosure, and Puroi is on view at the Amazon Center twice a month.

Visitors can also see other animal young thriving, such as those of the giraffe, the Red-shanked Douc Langur, and the proboscis monkey.

Please make sure you keep an appropriate distance between yourself and others in the zoo grounds, and make room for other visitors to view the animals too.

For the latest business information and infection prevention measures at the zoos, please check the webpages or enquire with the relevant zoo.
