Assistance is Available for My Number Card Applications

PSA Yokohama
2022/08/10

Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City

10th August 2022

The My Number Card is a convenient card with an IC chip that allows you to obtain copies of your resident card at convenience stores and apply online for a number of procedures related to status of residence.

Today, we will be introducing two ways to apply for a My Number Card.

The first method is to apply from your smartphone.

If you have an application form with a two-dimensional code to hand, you can easily apply by using your smartphone to scan the two-dimensional code and registering a photo of your face taken with your smartphone.

The second method is for those who do not have an application form or who find it difficult to apply by themselves.

Yokohama City provides assistance with the application on the 2nd floor of the city hall.

Staff will take a picture of your face for free and support you in filling out the application form.

They will then give you an envelope to send the application in, so all you have to do to complete the process is put it in a postbox.

When getting assistance, please bring a document that shows your My Number, such as your notification card,  as well as your residence card to confirm your period of stay.

Support is provided on the 2nd floor of Yokohama City Hall every weekday and on some Saturdays and Sundays too.

Please check the Yokohama City website for dates.

Please note that if your period of stay is less than one month, you should complete the status of residence procedure before applying for a My Number Card.

Once you have applied for a My Number Card, you will need to collect it.

About a month and a half after putting your application in the post, you will receive a postcard from your local ward office explaining the collection process.

In Yokohama City, there is a "My Number Card Special Center" where you can collect your card on weekends and national holidays too.

Please make a reservation before heading to the center.
