Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City

17th August 2022

'Yokohama Otomatsuri 2022', one of the largest music festivals in Japan, is taking place across all areas of Yokohama City from Saturday 17th September to Sunday 6th November.

It is held once every three years, and as one of Japan’s largest music festivals, its aim is to deliver music to everyone, regardless of nationality, race, generation, gender, or disability.

Yokohama will be filled with music from a variety of genres including classical, jazz, pop, and traditional Japanese music.

A program of over 300 music events will be rolled out across the streets of Yokohama.

These will include performances by top artists from within Japan and abroad, and workshops where children can learn from professional musicians.

As well as fee based performances in music halls, the “Spreading Sound on the Streets Project” will be held during the festival period, mainly on weekends.

Live street performances that are free and open to everyone will be held in open spaces that draw lots of people, such as commercial facilities, parks, and shopping streets in the city.

Spectacular guests such as ‘Zoorasian Brass’ and the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing too, so if you visit Landmark Plaza or Queen’s Square Yokohama please check them out!
