Heatstroke Measures ②

PSA Yokohama
2020/08/26

During this period, when hot summer days with temperatures over 30℃ continue, extra care should be taken to prevent heatstroke. And it’s not just during the day that heatstroke can occur. Many cases arise at night too.

Please take note of the following four pointers for preventing heatstroke.

1. Drink fluids even if you do not feel thirsty.

2. Choose clothing made of materials such as cotton or linen, that allow heat to escape.

3. When indoors, ventilate rooms and use air-conditioning and fans to control the temperature.

4. Do moderate exercise in your daily life to promote sweating.

This year, heatstroke must be prevented while living in the "new normal", so please do the following:

If you can secure a distance of 2 meters or more between yourself and others outdoors, remove your mask to reduce the risk of heat stroke.

When wearing a mask, avoid heavy work and exercise, and take care to rehydrate. You should also remove your mask and take breaks appropriately.

Try to ventilate rooms using extractor fans or by opening windows, even when cooling the room. The room temperature will rise during ventilation, so adjust the temperature setting on the air conditioner frequently.

Body temperature measurements and health checks in daily life are effective not just for preventing new coronavirus infection but also for preventing heat stroke. If you feel unwell, don't overdo it...rest at home.

Whilst avoiding crowded places, close contact and closed spaces, try to pay attention to those who are prone to heatstroke, such as senior citizens, children, and people with disabilities.

Please keep yourself in good physical condition.
