Information on Covid-19 Vaccinations

PSA Yokohama

Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City

16th Nobember 2022

This week’s edition is on COVID-19 vaccinations.

The vaccination interval for COVID-19 vaccinations targeting the Omicron variant has been shortened from 5 months to 3 months.

Until now, it was not possible to get vaccinated until 5 months had passed since the previous vaccination, but the reduced vaccination interval means that it is now possible to get vaccinated 2 months earlier than before.

For example, people who received a conventional vaccination in September would originally have been unable to get the next vaccination until February next year, but because of the shortened vaccination interval, they will now be able to get the Omicron-adapted COVID-19 vaccination in December this year.

Reservations for vaccinations can be made straight away with the vaccination vouchers that were sent out.

Anyone aged 12 or older who has had two or more conventional vaccinations can be vaccinated with the Omicron vaccine.

Compared to conventional vaccines, the Omicron vaccine is expected to have a stronger effect in preventing severe symptoms from Omicron variants, and to be more effective in preventing infection and onset.

Please consider getting vaccinated early so you are prepared if the number of Covid-19 cases rises again or if COVID-19 and influenza infections spread at the same time.
