Sankeien’s Autumn Foliage Illuminations

PSA Yokohama
2024/11/27

Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City

27th November 2024

This week's edition is on 'Sankeien’s Autumn Foliage Illuminations'.

Sankeien is a Japanese garden located in Yokohama's Honmoku.

Inside the extensive garden, there are 17 historical buildings, including important cultural properties, gathered from places such as Kyoto and Kamakura.

Visitors can enjoy seeing how they blend in seamlessly with the natural scenery of each season.

In autumn, the yellow and red hues of the trees in Sankeien brighten up the garden's buildings even further, and during the day, the beautiful golden ginkgo trees and vibrantly colored maples, create the atmosphere of a serene ancient capital.

On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between Friday 22nd November and Sunday 8th December, the opening hours of the garden will be extended, and the autumn foliage illuminated.

From sunset, visitors will be able to enjoy the fantastical sight of a golden glow bathing ancient structures such as the three-story pagoda - the symbol of Sankeien - and other buildings designated important cultural properties.
